Brunch Club: The North House

The first official meeting of the All of the Things CT Brunch Club came to order not so promptly at 11:15(ish) on a rainy Sunday at The North House in Avon. It may have been cold outside but inside was warm and inviting - especially where we sat in the bar area, near the crackling fireplace. If you haven’t been to The North House, you should change that immediately. It’s entirely charming and classic New England - oh, and the food is excellent!

Bloody Mary Menu North House Avon CT

We started our brunch as any bruncher (probably not a word, oh well) should, with cocktails. If Bloody Marys are your style, they have you covered with a menu that will allow you to fulfill all of your Bloody Mary fantasies. If their 12 vodka choices aren’t enough for you, then don’t worry they have other spirits to choose from like scotch, tequila, gin - and say it with me… BACON BOURBON. They also have a selection of rimming salts, a buffet of garnishes and even choices of the mix (if you like it then you shoulda put a Corona in it). Two of those epic creations made their way to our table as well as the Blushing Bellini, North Star, and The Paloma - all of which get our seal of drinking approval.

Deviled Eggs The North House Avon CT

We started our meal with some pretty fantastic biscuits followed by BLT Deviled Eggs. Our server was gracious enough to bring us one extra (orders usually have 4) to accommodate our party, and they were great. The perfect bite, the fat from the avocado and whipped egg yolk, balanced with that smokey bacon crunch - delicious.

When the entrees arrived we were all in awe of the Caramel Apple Pancakes; there was no photo we took that could have done them justice. They were sizeable super light and fluffy pancakes served with spiced walnut syrup and bacon or sausage. They were a hit and made their way around the table.

We also ordered the Open Face Proscuitto, which was as delicious as it looked and served with a sunny side egg, arugula, and black peppercorn vinaigrette. The Filet Eggs Benedict was super tasty, and the Corned Beef Hash with house-brined corned beef was on point.

Add the North House to your list of places to brunch soon, and you won't be disappointed. Besides brunch, they offer a great dinner menu, generous happy hour and know how to host an event.
